Fourteen months after Alex Mercer, Codenamed 'ZEUS' released the Blacklight Virus into Manhattan, Sgt. James Heller returns home after a tour overseas in Iraq only to find that his wife and daughter have been claimed by the deadly plague. In a fit of homicidal rage, Heller requests reassignment to the Red Zone in an attempt to hunt down Alex Mercer. However the mission quickly goes south and Heller is infected by Mercer. Heller embarks on a quest for revenge by murdering his maker.
